Adjustable gas blocks are crucial for controlling the the amount of gas that enters your AR15 build. Being able to fine tune your recoil system is a major advantage because of the large variation in barrel port sizes and dwell time. Being able to control the amount of gas with a simple turn of a set screw will allow you to shoot a wide variety of under powered and overpowered ammo.
