The new CMMG 224 Valkyrie barrel is engineered to deliver on this exciting new caliber's promise of long-range accuracy and high-energy performance. The 24" 416SS barrel has been Salt Bath Nitrided, and provides superior long-range accuracy and durability.
I bought this barrel as a budget back up to a much more expensive set-up that I have for competition. After installing and tuning the gas block, I found this barrel to be much more accurate with Hornady factory ammunition. I regularly take it out to 1000 yards at my local range, and it stays sub MOA at that distance. I am very pleased with this barrel and will buy another if I wear it out.

2moa barrel
Took me awhile to get my rifle straightened out, it's been a rough start to the 224 valkyrie life. I can say this, this barrel is capable of producing dime size 5 shot groups at 100. Hand loads of h4895, br4 primers, starline brass with hornady 80 and 88gr.

Double Tap Ammo
I got this barrel and had mixed results with the less expensive ammo. Federal Premium shot well, but I think this barrel favors the Double Tap ammo. Its the same sierra matchking bullet as the Federal, but I dont know if its just more consistent or what, but it is crazy accurate. Love shooting this next to my buddies 6.5 and getting similar results without the recoil.

Solid Barrel
Was having trouble with this barrel so I called the tech support guys over at CMMG. Guy suggested I try out the 90 Gr Sierra Matchking ammo from Federal. Stuff is pricey, which is why I didnt try it first, but man is it accurate. I have since had no problems pushing out to 600 yards. Hoping to find a place I can go farther when I get some better weather. My suggestion is dont mess with the cheap ammo.
